London Shopping Guide London is one of the world’s leading cities for fashion and shopping. From luxury designer boutiques to high-street fashion, department stores, independent shops, colourful markets and outlets, the city offers something for every style and budget. Throughout the year, I explore London’s shopping districts — particularly during new-season launches, end-of-season sales and Christmas — to follow the latest trends and discover what the city has to offer. Boxing Day Sales 26 December, known as Boxing Day, has become one of the UK’s best-known shopping days. Traditionally a public holiday following Christmas Day, it is now strongly associated with seasonal sales and promotions. The atmosphere can be exciting, but the busiest shopping areas can also become extremely crowded. My advice is simple: plan what you need, set a budget and don’t let an attractive sale encourage you to buy something you will never wear. Where to Shop in London Regent Street One of London’s most iconic shopping streets, combining beautiful architecture with international fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands. The legendary Hamleys also makes Regent Street a favourite with families. Oxford Street Perhaps London’s best-known shopping street, offering everything from affordable high-street fashion to major department stores. Selfridges remains one of its most famous landmarks. Piccadilly & Soho A vibrant part of central London where shopping, entertainment, restaurants and London nightlife come together. From Piccadilly, you can easily explore nearby Regent Street, Soho and Carnaby Street. Carnaby Colourful, creative and full of personality, Carnaby is ideal for discovering fashion, lifestyle stores, independent brands, cafés and restaurants. Covent Garden One of my favourite areas for combining shopping with the London experience. Fashion and beauty boutiques sit alongside restaurants, street performers and the historic market buildings. Camden For something more alternative, Camden offers fashion, vintage finds, accessories, crafts, street food and plenty of London character. Bond Street For luxury shopping, Bond Street is an essential destination, home to many of the world’s most prestigious fashion, jewellery and designer houses. London’s Famous Department Stores Harrods An internationally recognised symbol of luxury shopping in Knightsbridge, offering designer fashion, beauty, accessories, food and gifts. Selfridges Located on Oxford Street, Selfridges combines luxury and contemporary fashion, beauty and lifestyle under one roof. Harvey Nichols Another Knightsbridge favourite, particularly known for designer fashion, beauty and its carefully selected luxury collections. Fortnum & Mason More than simply a shop, Fortnum & Mason represents a piece of British tradition. It is particularly famous for tea, food, hampers and elegant gifts. Hamleys A Regent Street institution and one of London's best-known toy shops — especially magical when visiting London with children. Markets & Something Different Portobello Road Market Set in colourful Notting Hill, Portobello Road is famous for antiques, vintage pieces, collectables and market stalls. Brick Lane One of East London's most distinctive areas, particularly popular for vintage fashion, independent shops, markets, street art and food. Borough Market If fashion shopping has made you hungry, Borough Market offers a completely different London experience, with an extraordinary variety of food and produce from Britain and around the world. Shopping Centres & Outlets Westfield For those who prefer having everything under one roof, London's Westfield centres offer an enormous selection of fashion, beauty, restaurants and entertainment. Bicester Village Located outside London, Bicester Village is a popular destination for designer outlet shopping, with numerous luxury and premium brands. Shop Smart, Not Just More London can make even the most disciplined shopper want to fill their bags. But good shopping is not about buying the most — it is about choosing the right pieces. Before buying, ask yourself: Does it suit me? Does it work with my wardrobe? Will I actually wear it? Because true style is not measured by how many shopping bags you carry. Buy less, choose well and create a wardrobe that reflects you.
